Still driving south towards San Francisco -- these next few road/water shots were taken just north of the Golden Gate Bridge.

This path led to a very scenic overlook, as seen in the next few photos. This segment of the coast is just west of Marin City, a small city just north of the Golden Gate bridge, on the western shore of San Francisco Bay.

Here it is, the northern end of the Golden Gate Bridge. I guess I wouldn't be a proper tourist without snapping a few photos of it. This view faces eastward, overlooking San Francisco Bay. My back is to the Pacific. See map Site 1.

Beyond the bridge is Alcatraz (the inactive prison island) on the left, and the city of San Francisco on the right. Off in the distance is Treasure Island in the center, and the Oakland Bay Bridge which spans San Francisco Bay, connecting the cities of San Francisco and Oakland.
